Day One Food Journal

DAY ONE FOOD JOURNAL!!!

We are excited to start the journey!!  We are keeping track of food for the day.  Here it is:

Breakfast: 4 pieces of peanut butter and jelly toast

                  Coffee with some creamer

Work:  2 doughnuts

Lunch: Piece of stromboli

Snack: 3 handfuls of Cheez-its

Home snack: 2 PBs on a spoon and a diet coke

Dinner:  Spaghetti with meatballs.

              3 pieces of garlic bread

              Salad with veggies and dressing

Dessert:  Double Dunkers Ice cream with syrup and peanuts

Snack:  Cereal with banana and milk

This was easily a day in a life of me eating.  This is how I ate, consistently, on a day to basis.  Yes, I did not have the doughnuts everyday, or perhaps so many carbs with the spaghetti for dinner, but you could bank on me eating:

  • ice cream and having a snack later in the evening.

  • I would easily eat some Cheez-Its here and there throughout the day.

  • I would partake in the workplace snack source of baked goods, candy, and other unhealthy treats my fellow co-workers lovingly brought in to share with the staff or the PTO may provide to say thank you to us!

In regards to the journal, this is a great first step..but it could use improvement.  If this is what you are writing and beginning to track of, GOOD FOR YOU!!  This is a GREAT FIRST STEP!

We all need to start somewhere and this is a solid start.  We can start getting some insight on eating habits and the next few days will be interesting to look at to see a whole picture.

One day is a snapshot, just a small glimpse in the nutritional picture.  As we continue we can improve on some minor details:

  • Add times of day. Use 6:30 AM instead of morning

  • Add more accurate amounts:

    • Two large cups of coffee with 2 TBs of SPECIFIC BRAND CREAMER in each

    • Four tablespoons of SPECIFIC BRAND French dressing

    • Three inch long piece of stromboli

This gives a clearer picture of what you are eating to more accurately calculate calories, sugar, protein, fat and carbs.

Keep working!!!! On to day two….
